Description
This is a rough sequel to a friend and fellow author’s piece called Blood Line. I was neck deep in the beta for this story and Mabus gave me his blessing to follow it up.
In Blood Line Buffy is turned before her fifteenth birthday. She subsequently goes on to rule Sunnydale with an iron fist for seven years prior to the story opening. The crux of the piece is that Willow is coerced into performing the hat trick she does in canon for the series end. But instead of being the big hero moment, the spell is corrupted to turn every slayer on the planet into slayer-vampires.
For the follow up, I played loose and fast with the world Mabus constructed. There are a large number of details changed, but the final events of his story hold mostly true.
In Bloodletting Buffy and Willow reclaim their humanity. The instrument that facilitates their evolution is love. It’s a singularly human quality and one of the key things that defines our race.
Author’s Notes
In its previous incarnation the beta work for Bloodletting was handled by Howard Russell. And I believe the pre-reader was Miss Angie. My apologies if I’m incorrect. I seem to have lost my notes.
The story is very good as it sits. But—well, have I mentioned the OCD yet? Because of that fun little condition, I can’t just repost it. You see there are flaws. Yeah…I know. I have issues. It’s a thing. Get in line to point that out. Then while you wait—it’s a long damned line—get over it.
So, the OCD demons tell me I must read and fix as I repost this little gem. Now, don’t wig. I’m not going to break it. Truth is, the story fundamentally works. The mechanics are great. And the ending actually feels like an ending. That’s only happened to me once since. I’m gonna guess it to be a rare and beautiful thing. I don’t mess with those.
This time around Whedonist and Miss Angie will handle the pre-reading…as they look at me like I’m nuts. While the lovely Miss Em will get the grizzly task of final punctuation because she gets why I’m nuts.
